Convert osu!mania, StepMania, Etterna, Quaver and Malody charts online
Cascade opens charts from five vertical scrolling rhythm games and saves
them for any of the others, directly in your browser. Open an
osu!mania .osz, a StepMania
or Etterna .sm, a Quaver
.qua or a Malody .mcz, check it
on the playfield, and export it in the format you need. There is nothing
to install, and the conversion runs on your own machine.
Every conversion Cascade can do
Anything Cascade can open, it can save in every format it writes. So each of these converts to each of the others:
| Format | Open | Save as | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| osu!mania set | .osz | .osz | Every mania difficulty in the set, with audio, background and video |
| osu!mania difficulty | .osu | .osu | One difficulty; add the song after opening it |
| StepMania / Etterna | .sm, .ssc | .sm | Export writes a zipped song folder with audio and background, for 4K, 5K, 6K, 7K, 8K and 10K |
| StepMania / Etterna pack | folder or .zip | Pick any song from the pack | |
| Quaver | .qua | .qua | One difficulty; Quaver export is 4K and 7K only |
| Malody set | .mcz | .mcz | Every Key mode chart with audio and background; export packs every difficulty up to 10K |
| Malody chart | .mc | One Key mode chart; add the song after opening it |
That covers osu! to StepMania and Etterna, osu! to Quaver, osu! to Malody, Malody to osu!, Quaver to osu!, StepMania to Malody and every other pair in the table.
How to convert a chart
- Open Cascade and drag your file onto the page: an
.osz,.osu,.sm,.ssc,.qua,.mcor.mcz. For a single chart without its song, drop the audio file too. - Check the chart: play it back, and fix any notes, holds, BPM changes or offsets before you export.
- Open the File menu and pick Export .osz, Export .osu, Export .sm, Export .qua or Export .mcz.
What carries over
- Notes and long notes (holds), from 1K up to 10K and beyond where the target game allows it
- BPM changes, time signatures and the song offset
- Scroll speed changes (SV) for osu!mania, Quaver and Malody
- Title, artist, mapper and difficulty names, including original-language titles for osu! and Malody
- The audio, background image and preview point, in every format that stores them
What a game has no place for stays behind: StepMania and Malody have no osu!-style hitsounds, Quaver and Malody have no OD or HP, and Malody keysounds are not imported. Each export keeps everything the target format can hold.
osu!mania to StepMania and Etterna
Export .sm downloads a zipped StepMania song folder with the audio and
background bundled, which Etterna reads too. StepMania header fields such as
#SUBTITLE, #GENRE and #DISPLAYBPM
can be edited in Map Settings. Rate-changed difficulties are left out,
because Etterna applies rates in game.
osu!mania to Malody, and back
Export .mcz packs every difficulty into one Malody set, with each chart
placed on Malody's beat grid so notes keep clean snaps. Opening a
Malody .mcz brings every Key mode chart in with its song
and background, ready to export as an .osz for osu!mania.
osu!mania to Quaver, and back
Export .qua saves the difficulty you are editing as a Quaver map, with
its scroll speed changes and bookmarks. Opening a .qua
also applies that map's scroll setting, so SV and BPM gimmicks look the
way they do in Quaver.
Why not a script?
Offline converter scripts exist, but they give you no way to check the result. Cascade shows the converted chart on a scrolling playfield with audio, so you can play it back, fix timing or patterns, and only then export. It doubles as a full online osu!mania editor and an osu!mania map viewer.
